1. Quality of base oil
The base oil of air compressor oil generally accounts for more than 95% of finished oil, so the quality of base oil is directly related to the quality level of air compressor oil, and the quality of base oil has a direct relationship with its refining depth. The deep refined base oil has less heavy aromatics and colloidal content, low carbon residue, good antioxidant sensitivity, small carbon accumulation tendency in the compressor system, and good oil-water separation. Base oil has a great impact on the performance of rotary compressor oil, so screw air compressor oil generally selects high quality hydrogenated mineral oil or synthetic oil as base oil.
2. Oxidation stability
Oil in the cycle of use, constantly contact with high temperature and high pressure oxygen in compressed air, it is easy to be oxidized and metamorphic to produce a variety of acids, colloids, asphaltenes and other substances, so that the color of the oil becomes darker, the acid value increases, the viscosity increases and the sediment appears, thus reducing the amount of oil injection, the temperature of the oil and the machine rises, resulting in excessive wear. Therefore, screw air compressor oil must have excellent oxidation stability, in order to ensure that the oil can be used safely for a long time.
3. Propensity to accumulate carbon
The anti - carbon tendency of compressor oil is very important to the reliable operation of compressor oil. The main substances that are easy to form residual carbon in oil products are asphaltenes, colloid and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Most of the above substances can be removed after deep refining of lubricating oil. General low viscosity and deep refining oil carbon residual value is low, in use is not easy to accumulate carbon. The carbon accumulation tendency of oil is the comprehensive performance of various indexes, and there are many influencing factors, among which the additives should be used as far as possible.
4. Oil-water separation
In operation, the compressor constantly meets the condensed water in the air and is violently stirred, which is easy to produce emulsification, resulting in unclear separation of oil and gas and increasing fuel consumption. As the oil is emulsified, the oil film is broken, resulting in wear. Emulsified oil encourages dust, grit, and sludge dispersion, affecting valve function and increasing friction, wear, and oxidation. Therefore, high quality compressor oil has good emulsification resistance and oil-water separation performance.
5. Defoamer
Screw compressor oil in the cycle process, the cycle speed is fast, the oil is in a state of intense agitation, easy to produce foam. When the compressor oil is started or depressurized, the oil in the oil pool is also easy to bubble. A large number of oil bubbles are poured into the oil and gas separator, which increases the resistance and fuel consumption, and will cause serious overload, overtemperature and other abnormal phenomena. Therefore, excellent rotary compressor oil must have excellent defoaming performance, to ensure that the foam tendency (that is, foaming) of the oil is small and foam stability (that is, defoaming) is good.
6. Rust and corrosion resistance
The cooling parts of air compressor oil are made of copper or copper metal, which is easy to be corroded, which will make the oil deteriorate due to early oxidation and generate oil sludge. This requires that the oil should have good corrosion resistance. The moisture in the air is easy to cool in the intermittent operation of the compressor, which is unfavorable to lubrication and can produce rust, so the compressor oil should have good corrosion prevention.
Of course, according to the physical properties of different air compressor lubricating oil and different working conditions, different environments, different manufacturers need different oil products, which we should understand, but here we advise you not to use mixed air compressor oil, which has no benefits for air compressors, but will shorten the service life of air compressors.
