In oil-flooded screw compressors, the separator element functions as the ultimate safeguard. The oil-air stream leaving the compressor contains large droplets that can be mechanically separated, but sub-micron suspended oil mist requires coalescing media for capture. Should this stage fail, oil mist escapes downstream with the compressed air, leading to lubricant loss, greater strain on post-treatment equipment, and degraded air quality.
Rather than waiting for a blockage alarm, this element is engineered to sustain separation performance over its full service interval. Its core filtration medium is a corrosion-resistant, high-efficiency microfiber coalescing material. It captures all solid particles larger than 3 μm from the compressor discharge, while microscopic oil-water-gas aerosols (roughly 0.01–1 μm) merge into larger droplets during passage through the element. These droplets collect at the base and are drawn back to the lubrication system via the return oil line.
