In oil-flooded screw compressors, the separator element functions as the ultimate barrier. Coarse droplets in the discharge mixture are removed mechanically, but submicron suspended oil mist must be trapped by coalescing media. If this stage fails, mist escapes downstream with the compressed air, leading to higher oil consumption, greater strain on post-treatment components, and degraded air quality.
Rather than reacting only to a blockage alarm, this element sustains separation performance across its entire service interval. Its filtration core is a corrosion-resistant, high-efficiency ultrafine fiber coalescing medium. It captures all solid particles larger than 3 μm, while microscopic oil-water-gas aerosols coalesce into larger droplets during passage. These droplets settle at the base and are drawn back to the lubrication circuit via the return line, resulting in cleaner compressed air from the compressor.
