The main causes and hazards of compressor oil separator faults

1. The oil separator core is clogged
When the oil separator core is clogged, it will cause excessive current in the air compressor motor. It is also possible that the oil separator core will deform due to excessive pressure. In mild cases, the motor will be overloaded; in severe cases, the main unit will seize up. In addition, excessive current can shorten the lifespan of the contactor or burn out the contacts, causing major accidents.
Generally, screw air compressors are equipped with a pressure gauge before the filter element. When the pressure difference between the pressure gauge before the filter element and the supply pressure gauge reaches 0.08MPa, the oil separator element needs to be replaced.
2. The oil separator core is damaged
When the oil separator core is damaged, the oil consumption of the air compressor will be very serious, and there will be a large amount of oil in the air storage tank and pipelines. In severe cases, the air compressor oil will be directly discharged when the drain valve of the air storage tank discharges.
The main causes of this malfunction are:
(1) The oil separator core was not replaced on time;
(2) Poor-quality oil separator cores were selected;
(3) During the installation process, the procedures were not followed, such as puncturing the oil separator core when installing the return oil pipe, etc.
Three. The oil separator core is burned out
The burning of the oil separator core is not common during the operation of the air compressor, but it does occur occasionally. The main manifestations are that the filter screen of the oil separator core is partially or completely carbonized, and even the metal casing of the oil separator core is burned.
The main reason for such malfunctions is:
(1) The quality of the air compressor oil is poor.
(2) The quality of the oil separator core itself is too poor;
(3) When installing the oil separator core, if there is no reliable connection between the oil separator core housing and the oil separator bucket, it cannot be grounded. When there is static electricity, the oil mist will be ignited, thus burning out the oil separator core.
Fourth, the separation effect of the oil separator core is relatively poor
The main manifestation is that the oil content in the compressed air is too high, causing damage to the post-treatment equipment and the user's equipment.
The main cause of this malfunction is:
(1) The quality of the oil separator core itself is too poor.
(2) The installation was not carried out in accordance with the procedures.
