Oil‑Gas Separator Element – Final Stage Filtration for High‑Power Compressors (200–315 kW)
Installed in the oil‑gas separation system, this element serves as the final safeguard for discharge air quality in high‑power air compressors.
Core Functions:
Oil Mist Separation: Compressed air from the main unit carries oil droplets of varying sizes. While larger droplets are easily removed by the separator vessel, fine suspended oil aerosols (micron‑sized particles) require the micro‑glass fiber media of the separator element for effective filtration.
Coalescence & Aggregation: The element features ultra‑fine fiber coalescing material with a multi‑layer filter bed structure, including a pre‑filter layer, ultra‑fine fiber layer, support layer, filter layer, and gravity settling layer. Extremely fine oil‑water aerosols (approx. 0.01–1 μm) are coalesced into larger droplets as they pass through the filter bed, collecting at the bottom of the element.
Oil Recovery: Coalesced oil droplets are siphoned back to the lubrication system through an oil return tube located at the bottom recess of the element, ensuring that the compressor delivers cleaner compressed air.
Solid Particle Interception: The element effectively removes solid particles larger than 3 μm from the compressed air stream.
Consequences of Failure: A failed separator element leads to increased oil carryover (oil blow‑by), premature saturation of downstream precision filters, oil fouling on refrigerated dryer heat exchangers, higher lubricant consumption, and elevated operating costs.
