Oil‑Gas Separator – Coalescence Principle
The separator works on the coalescence (aggregation) mechanism. Compressor discharge air contains oil droplets in a range of sizes. Larger droplets are easily removed as the flow passes through the separator vessel, whereas fine oil aerosols (suspended particles) must pass through the micro‑glass fiber medium of the separator element.
The element features corrosion‑resistant ultrafine fiber coalescing material as its main filtration medium. Its multi‑layer composite filter bed comprises a pre‑filter layer, ultrafine fiber layer, support layer, filter layer, and gravity settling layer. As extremely fine oil‑water aerosols (approximately 0.01–1 μm) travel through the element, they merge into larger droplets, which collect at the bottom and are siphoned back to the lubrication system via a return tube located in the bottom recess.
