As compression takes place, air and lubricant become mixed, creating an air-oil stream that must be effectively separated before the compressed air is released into the system. The separator element is designed to facilitate this process by helping remove lubricant aerosols and fine oil particles from the airflow.
The filtration media used within the separator element is selected for air-oil separation applications commonly found in industrial compressor systems. As compressed air passes through the separator layers, suspended lubricant particles are captured and encouraged to merge into larger droplets. These droplets can then return to the lubrication circuit through the designed recovery pathway, supporting continuous lubricant circulation within the compressor.
