This oil separator element is designed for lubricated rotary screw air compressors. Its primary role is to reduce oil carryover in the compressed air stream. The element uses coalescing filtration technology to capture fine oil aerosols from the air discharge. Captured oil droplets merge into larger masses that gravity drains back to the compressor sump through a dedicated return line.
The filtration process involves multiple stages. As compressed air enters the separator, it passes through progressively finer fiber layers. Small oil particles collide with fiber surfaces and adhere. Air movement causes additional droplets to join together. When droplets reach a sufficient size and weight, they migrate downward under combined air flow pressure and gravitational force. The recovered oil exits through a scavenge port for recirculation into the compressor lubrication circuit.
