1.Forced filtration to purify lubricating oil
During air compressor operation, lubricating oil continuously carries metal shavings, carbon deposits, sludge, and fine dust particles drawn in from the air. The oil filter, using high-precision filter media (such as fiberglass), continuously intercepts and traps these solid particles, ensuring that the lubricating oil circulating back to the main bearings, rotor, and other precision components remains clean.
2. Ensure Lubrication and Prevent Wear
Clean lubricating oil is essential for the formation of a stable oil film and fluid lubrication of the engine's moving parts. If the oil filter fails, impurities enter the friction pairs with the oil, accelerating wear and leading to serious malfunctions such as cylinder scoring and bearing seizure. Therefore, the core value of an oil filter lies in preventing wear at its source.
3. Built-in Bypass Valve for Safety Redundancy
All qualified oil filters have a built-in bypass valve. Its core protection logic is that when the oil filter becomes clogged due to prolonged lack of replacement, causing the inlet and outlet pressure difference to exceed a set value, the bypass valve automatically opens, allowing some unfiltered engine oil to bypass and flow to the engine. This sacrifices filtration accuracy but ensures that the engine still has oil lubrication under the worst operating conditions, preventing dry running and potential failure. This is one of the core functions of an oil filter as a safety component.
