Air Intake Filter – Primary Protection for the Compressor
This component is positioned at the very front of the compressor intake system and serves as the first line of defence for the main unit.
Core Functions:
Contaminant Removal: Captures airborne impurities such as dust, sand, moisture, and oil mist from the intake air.
Main Unit Protection: With the compressor rotor operating at extremely tight clearances, the air filter prevents oversized contaminants from coming into contact with critical components such as rotors and bearings. This helps avoid premature wear and maintains the integrity of rotor clearances.
Prevention of Major Damage: When a large number of particles larger than 15 μm enter the screw compressor, they can accelerate bearing wear, increase rotor clearances, reduce compression efficiency, and in severe cases, lead to rotor seizure or complete unit failure.
Extended Service Life of Downstream Components: Reduces the filtration load on downstream consumables such as oil filters and oil‑gas separators, thereby extending their service life.
